‘Fantasy’ is a slow burn track that wanders from a sustained bass note into a tight funk jam inspired by the new-wave acts of the 1980s. Kristian North has created something special here, mixing crisp modern production with a disco beat that feels nostalgic. He doesn’t try to disguise influence beneath weirdness, simply creating something uplifting and completely addictive. ‘Fantasy’, like everything on his upcoming album, Passion Play, was written on piano in order to break his guitar-led songwriting methods.
